I’ve begun to start considering what type of illustration style I’d like my final execution to look like. I decided to go with a more abstract view on Dothraki culture, with a focus on their earthly roots and connection with the earth. Hence me making use of their constant migration and eventual arrival at their main city, Vaes Dothrak, a city ruled by the Dosh Khaleen (widows of Khals).
Through having a visual focus on the migration of the Dothraki people. I’ve also considered using a style of illustration inspired by elder civilisations such as rock paintings from Native American tribes, tribes of the Han, South African Khoi San and Maori tribes. I’m pairing this style of drawing with that of symbols from the various tribes and that of Greek Mythology and its Centaur man-horse figure.
The Concept: I’ve changed my concept to working with the contrast between the Dothraki’s nature as “noble savages” and or primative nature contrasted with their belief of a strong yet just “Stallion Spirit” or God. The use of such a calm, herbivore animal being their central means of transport and their symbol of the ultimate strength.

Hence, I will be making use of a nomadic, journey scrolling website with 4 transitioning landscapes as chapters. The first chapter being an introduction to what the concept is about and some words from the Dothraki beliefs. Chapters 2-3 being changing landscapes of a journey and the final being Vaes Dothrak, the Dothraki city, the city without weapon or bloodshed. I may make use of a masking screen showing their fierce, warrior nature seising a village as one hovers over a section of the screen. ie. behind a tree will show this strength and warrior. The landscapes will show their connection to the earth and aspects of their culture.
